A fifty-year-old factory owner is interviewed by television on the occasion of the anniversary of his company. During the interview, the industrialist becomes aware of the falseness of his previous lifestyle, leaves his home and family and decides to change his life – much to the chagrin of his children. In his feature film debut, Alain Tanner tells the story of disillusionment and won the main prize in Locarno for it in 1969.
