The pioneering researcher Alexander von Humboldt would be 250 years old today. In the spirit of Humboldt, the Colombian biologist Julio Betancur has dedicated himself like hardly anyone else to collecting and classifying plants. Director Guillermo Quintero accompanies Betancur’s research trip to the untouched tropical high mountains of South America. He comments on the events from off screen and asks: Is it still contemporary to classify nature in this way?
