LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Lovers

#46 from 5 October to 12 October 2023

LUCAS Jury 2018

As Germany’s oldest film festival for young audiences, LUCAS will celebrate its 46th edition from October 5 to 12, 2023. Current international filmmaking – feature films, documentaries, animation and experimental films – will be presented for everyone from four years to 18+.

In the competitions for the age groups 8+, 13+ and 16+, films in carefully curated feature film series as well as short film programs (all German premieres) compete for the coveted LUCAS awards. Film classics and other themed series, some of which were curated by children and young people, round out the program. During the festival week, special emphasis is placed on the film discussions, in which filmmakers from all over the world enter into a dialog with the young audience.

At LUCAS, participation means getting involved! Young film fans are invited to participate in the festival in a variety of ways: as presenters, festival reporters or film critics, as jury members or curators.

For those working in the film industry, there will be symposiums and panel discussions focusing on film education and current trends in producing films for children and youth.

LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Fans is organized by DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum.
