We are delighted to be able to welcome our audience back in our cinema again after the two previous festival editions had to take place online!

At the 27th edition of VERSO SUD the two directors Marcello Sannino (on 20.11.) and Enrico Iannaccone (on 22.11.) will present their new films, and Gianfranco Angelucci, a long-time collaborator of Federico Fellini, will give an insight into his work with the great director, to whom we are dedicating this year’s homage. Seven films by Fellini will be screened during the festival, followed by further screenings of his films in a retrospective in December and January.

As always, VERSO SUD will provide an overview of contemporary Italian cinema and show a selection of ten recent productions. Find more information on this year’s program and homage in the Festival Catalog.

At the festival, 2G rules apply. Cancellation of tickets is only possible in exceptional cases and only up to one day before the screening. As in previous years, tickets reserved at the box office must be collected up to two days before the performance.

VERSO SUD

Every winter, the Italian film festival VERSO SUD offers an insight into current Italian filmmaking. A special focus is on auteur cinema, with films that attract a great deal of attention in their home country from audiences and critics alike.

Directors, screenwriters and actors present their works at VERSO SUD and discuss them with the audience. Among the guests of recent years are Silvio Soldini, Giuseppe Piccioni, Eugenio Cappuccio and Andrea Segre. Special screenings for pupils complete the programme.

In additon, each year VERSO SUD pays tribute to a filmmaker and shows outstanding works of Italian film history. Among others, the festival commemorated the legendary Vittorio de Sica on the occasion of his 100th birthday and dedicated a retrospective and photo exhibition to the director, author, poet and theatre man Pier Paolo Pasolini on the 30th anniversary of his death. In 2007 VERSO SUD presented the central works of Michelangelo Antonioni on the occasion of his death.
