CinEd

The European film education project CinEd, led by Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu de Cinema in Lisbon, aims to engage children and young people across Europe with the diversity of European cinema and to support film education through the CinEd.eu platform. CinEd.eu offers a diverse catalogue of contemporary and historical films from all over Europe, curated by experts and accessible free of charge through digital downloads and streaming. The films are accompanied by educational materials, worksheets and background texts for each film, allowing for intensive preparation and follow-up, and fostering young people’s creativity and understanding of film.

CinEd and all its content are multilingual and aimed at young audiences from 6 to 18 years of age, teachers of all disciplines and school types, cultural education facilitators and actors from the cinema industry.

In Germany, CinEd is coordinated by the DFF together with the German Film Academy. So far, materials are available in German on the films DER GEIST DES BIENENSTOCKS (ES 1973, dir. Victor Erice), ELF UHR NACHTS (FR 1965, dir. Jean-Luc Godard), DIE PAUSE (IT 2012, dir. Leonardo Di Costanzo) and ANGST ESSEN SEELE AUF (D 1974, dir. Rainer Werner Fassbinder) as well as on the short film program DIE ANFÄNGE DES KINOS. Additional translations are planned.

For schools and cinemas, the DFF and the German Film Academy offer free “complete packages” consisting of one of the CinEd films, film mediators for a workshop or film analysis, and additional materials for teachers and students.
