Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek / German Digital Library

The goal of the German Digital Library (DDB) is to provide free access to Germany’s cultural and scientific heritage, including millions of books, archival materials, images, sculptures, music and other sound recordings, films, and sheet music. As a central national cultural portal, the DDB is intended to link the digital offerings of all of Germany’s cultural and scientific institutions into a network.

The DDB is intended to ensure Germany’s connectivity and competitiveness in science, research and education, but also to make its unique cultural heritage and knowledge conveniently accessible to all via a central point of contact. This centralized access will fundamentally improve the opportunities for researching, teaching, and doing business.

The DFF is responsible for film-related materials and moving images and manages the DDB’s Film Mediathek. The mission of the Film Mediathek is to provide expert advice and assistance to film archives and other institutions with film collections. Please contact us if you have digitized film collections and would like to participate in the DDB. We will support you every step of the way.
