Film, Flight and Interculture

Film, Flucht und Interkultur

Conference and Workshop on “Film, Flight and Interculture”
Frankfurt am Main, September 21-23, 2016

The rapid increase in the number of refugees over the past two years has led to numerous nationwide support and integration initiatives. German film institutions, filmmakers and film educators have also responded with a variety of projects. And rightly so: as a low-threshold visual medium, film has the power to bring people together, whether in the production process or in the cinema. In addition, cultural and educational policies are increasingly demanding that representatives of cultural institutions actively contribute to the social challenge of integration.

The conference “Film, Flight and Interculture” invites those active in film education to pause and take a self-critical look back.

A collaboration between the German Film Institute and the Federal Agency for Civic Education in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. The event took place within the framework of the 39th LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Fans.
