West Sumatra, Indonesia, is the home of the Minangkabau. With several million members it is the largest matriarchal society in the world. They live according to the Adat, the maternal natural law – in peaceful connection with Islam. House, yard and land are in the hands of women. The film tells the story of everyday life from the perspective of 33-year-old Yelfia Susanti, who with her large clan is committed to balance and living together peacefully.
