Next year, in 2020, Canada will be the Guest of Honour of the Frankfurt Book Fair. At this year’s “handover of the baton”, the DFF is showing Atom Egoyan’s latest film, which premiered in Venice in September.
At the same time, the German premiere of the film is the start of Canada Now: The Maple Movies Festival Tour 2019/20.
GUEST OF HONOUR
Teacher Veronica is convicted of sexual assault. But although the accusations were false, she insists on being punished for crimes long ago. Veronica’s intransigence disturbs her father Jim, who works as a food inspector. Frustrated and angry, Jim increasingly abuses the power of his job. Hidden traumas, interwoven secrets and their unforeseeable consequences are the focus of GUEST OF HONOUR.
