With 13 films and a running time of around 26 hours, DIE ZWEITE HEIMAT (Heimat 2. Chronicle of a Generation) explores, among other things, the artistic and student milieu of Munich in the 1960s, combining fiction with contemporary history. Edgar Reitz’s sequel to HEIMAT – EINE DEUTSCHE CHRONIK (Heimat: A Chronicle of Germany) is one of the most unusual projects in German film history due to its length and complexity – the screenplay is 2,143 pages long and contains 71 speaking parts and 310 supporting roles. The film series unfolds its appeal primarily through the experience in the cinema.
On August 12, Edgar Reitz and lead actress Salome Kammer will be guests at the DFF to present two of their favorite episodes of the series.

Clarissa, though at the beginning of a promising career, is full of doubts about her future. Hermann prepares his first concert outside the music academy and Schnüsschen proves to be a real “pearl”. The concert reunites all the friends and Evelyne turns the event into a requiem for the dead Ansgar. But the friends do not come to Hermann’s party in the Fuchsbau – everyone has other things to do, and Schnüsschen knows how to take advantage of the situation, and soon Hermann, forgetting his grief, lies happily in her arms.
