Director Kofi Ofosu-Yeboah about AMANSA TIAFI

Recording of the event on February 8th, 2023 at the DFF cinema

After a long absence, the enigmatic Ama returns to Ghana and embarks on a road trip with Sadiq to settle old scores. Along the way, they encounter corrupt politicians, corrupt courts, shady art dealers and the vestiges of colonialism. The biting satire is also a love letter to Ofosu-Yeboah’s homeland. “AMANSA TIAFI is a personal manifesto, a tribute to my continent. It’s my contribution to a larger narrative about a people whose unwavering optimism in the face of adversity continues to inspire my work. (Kofi Ofosu-Yeboah)

Ama and Sadiq are both descendants of Bonnie and Clyde and Anta and Mory, the couple in Djibril Diop Mambéty’s revolutionary TOUKI BOUKI (1973).
