After numerous warships mysteriously sink, rumors of a sea monster spread. A research expedition discovers that behind the supposed creature is the submarine Nautilus of the legendary Captain Nemo, who is searching for a new world below sea level. Richard Fleischer’s film adaptation of Jules Verne’s literary classic won two Oscars® and is the most imaginative and lavish film version of the story, which is also superbly cast with Kirk Douglas, James Mason and Peter Lorre.
