The Volker Schlöndorff Collection is one of the most important and comprehensive collections of New German Film held by the DFF.
In June 1992, Volker Schlöndorff transferred all existing documents relating to his films to the DFF. On the occasion of Volker Schlöndorff’s 75th birthday on 31 March 2014 – the DFF launched an online exhibition that gives access to part of his diverse collection. The online exhibition combines text and images with multimedia elements, and draws on both the Schlöndorff collection as well as on supplementary materials such as video interviews, educational media documents, and exclusive essays by film scholars. In a first curatorial selection, documents and materials dealing with key films from the filmmaker’s extensive oeuvre have been prepared editorially and made accessible online. Successively, the selection being expanded and supplemented.
