The Volker Schlöndorff Collection is one of the most important and comprehensive collections of New German Film held by the DFF.
In June 1992, Volker Schlöndorff entrusted the DFF with all existing documents relating to his films. On the occasion of Volker Schlöndorff’s 75th birthday – March 31, 2014 – the DFF launched an online exhibition that provides access to a part of his extensive collection. The online exhibition combines text and images with multimedia elements and draws on both the Schlöndorff collection and supplementary materials such as video interviews, educational media documents and exclusive essays by film scholars. In an initial curatorial selection, documents and materials relating to key films from the filmmaker’s extensive oeuvre have been edited and made accessible online. The selection will gradually be expanded and supplemented.
