17-year-old Christine is strong-willed: She wants to be called Lady Bird, get a leading role in the next musical production at her school, have a boyfriend and escape the boredom of her Californian hometown Sacramento to study at an elite college on the East Coast. Soon Lady Bird must realize that her dreams cannot become true all that easily. But sobering experiences with boys, her father’s unemployment and the arguments with her mother can’t stop her.
Lively dialogues and great acting make this film an equally entertaining and touching reminder of how bumpy, enlightning and exciting the way into adult life can be.
