Jia Zhangke: Cinema of Transformation
Within four decades, the People’s Republic of China has transformed itself at a breathtaking pace from an agrarian state into the world’s second largest highly technical economy: The films of Jia Zhangke, one of the most important Chinese directors of today, are seismograms of this transformation.
