MORAL

MORAL

DE 1928. dir: Willi Wolff. D: Ellen Richter, Jacob Tiedtke, Ralph Arthur Roberts. 81 min.

Ellen Richter was one of the most successful actresses of the German silent movie era, appearing mainly in adventure films from 1915. Indeed, she was so successful that she founded her own production company by 1920. From then on she made her movies independently, with her husband Willi Wolff writing and directing. MORAL is an adaptation of Ludwig Thoma’s comedy of the same name. In it, the morality society of a small town tries to prevent the appearance of a traveling revue troupe because they feel morality is in danger. But what is exposed is the prevailing double standard. Ellen Richter plays the role of Ninon, the head of the dance troupe.

Besides MORAL, other films starring Ellen Richter and distributed by DFF are LOLA MONTEZ, DIE TÄNZERIN DES KÖNIGS und LEBEN UM LEBEN.
