Thelma is a bored and dissatisfied housewife and is persuaded by her friend Louise to spend a weekend vacation together. In a bar, Thelma barely escapes being raped by a man whom Louise shoots shortly afterwards. The two women then flee to Mexico and are mercilessly pursued by the police.
