Lorenz Brahmkamp, as a clerk in the building department, is a small light in the even smaller Osthofen, and things are not going too well in his private life either – until he takes a cue from the sun-oiled and otherwise very greasy self-made millionaire Alexander Schönleben. Although he soon turns out to be a swindler, Lorenz becomes his ally, because: Better to rise high than fall low.
