In October 2016, the Senegalese economist, musician and poet Felwine Sarr and his friend, the political scientist Achille Mbembe, founded the “Ateliers de la Pensée”, the workshops of thought. For four days they gathered leading intellectuals in Dakar, Senegal, for a long overdue theoretical exchange on current topics concerning Africa – and thus the future of Planet Earth. The film juxtaposes the ideas and observations of the participants using the film’s own technique of montage, or more precisely parallel montage, and a time axis.
